Harvest Management

One of the most important management decisions is producing high quality tobacco is deciding when to cut.  Burley tobacco should be allowed to ripen until nearly all the upper leaves show a distinct yellow-green color (usually 3-5 weeks after topping). Monitoring weather forecasts is a critical step in planning a harvest date.

Good housing practices are ESSENTIAL for high-quality cured tobacco.  Read more details in ID-160, Burley and Dark Tobacco Production Guide
