Premature Blooming
Plants exposed to extended periods of cool, cloudy weather can be induced to form a bloom prematurely. Once this process has been set in motion it cannot be reversed. Typically less than 1% of the plants in a field are affected, but higher incidences have been reported for plants treated with Terramaster in the float bed. Terramaster does not appear to cause premature bloom, but does seem to increase the number of affected plants when weather conditions are conducive to produce premature blooming.
Plants that been induced to bloom have narrow, strappy, sucker like leaves. For more information on premature bloom please see Fact Sheet TOB-3-5: Premature and Early Bloom in Tobacco.
