Potassium deficiency is often first noticed as yellowing at the tips and along the edges of leaves.

Symptoms of potassium deficiency may be caused by low levels of potassium in the soil, poor root systems, or in some cases rapidly growing tobacco. 

Severe potassium deficiency on burley tobacco

As potassium deficiency progresses tissues begin to die off at the tips and edges of leaf, resulting in a ragged looking leaf.
