Carolina Horsenettle (Bull Nettle)

Carolina Horsenettle (Bull Nettle)

Carolina horsenettle, also known by some as bull nettle, is a common weed in tobacco fields. There are no labelled herbicides that provide good control for this weed so cultivation and hand hoeing are the primary control options. Like tobacco, Carolina horsenettle is a member of the Solanaceae family, and because of this close relation it can harbor certain viruses that can move to nearby tobacco via insect vectors.
